About Me
Hi there! I'm Tanya the maker behind Yours In Chalk. I'm bringing chalk back!! But, why? Chalk can bring families together through the nostalgic joy of outdoor play. It can be used as a learning and artistic tool and as a mum and Learning Support Officer/ Teacher's Aide, I love helping children learn and grow. Having my own business can be fun but also challenging. Many hours have gone into perfecting my chalk formula, product design, my website, graphic design, photographing and so on but I wouldn't change it for the world!

My Story
Yours In Chalk was born a few years after my two beautiful kiddies started school. I had been racking my brain on how to be creative, whilst tapping into my love of business. Business Studies was my favourite subject at school and my Dad also had his own successful business. Dad ran a highly successful business but was a fair business man with integrity and charm. He worked so hard but I admired his persistence and confidence to communicate with CEOs of major companies and to travel all over the world. I love that I can bounce anything and everything off of Dad and that he will always be there for me.

My Mum was and still is an inspiration to me. Her ability to teach herself new skills before the days of YouTube and Google were incredible! She taught herself how to play the guitar and being a night owl, she taught herself how to crochet and made an entire blanket in two nights. My Mum was the most caring, loving, selfless, fun, amazing, forgiving and gentle person I have ever known. Dad was always away on business but she never complained but just got on and got shit done. She brought so much happiness to so many people. And even though she left this earth way too soon at the age of 38, there's not a day that goes by where I don't feel her presence or aura. She's always our angel, watching over us.

I have a passion to help the little people in this world. My own children are my soul and I believe that all children are worthy of love and belonging. I recently took up a role as a Learning Support Officer (LSO) or Teacher's Aide at a primary school. I love being able to assist kids with their learning but more importantly, with their mental health and happiness. I have recently signed up to complete a Graduate Certificate in Positive Psychology as I'm all about being happy in yourself and living life to the best of your ability. I hope to help teach mental resilience and well being to our future generations. I have grown up with my own mental health challenges and with the numbers of suicides rising, we need to help our children and teens to not only survive but to thrive.

I've been lucky enough to have support from my loving family and close friends in my handmade business journey. Thank you to every single one of you for believing in me. And thank you to every single customer as without you, my business would not exist. My heart skips a beat, every time I receive an order.
